VINEGAR TOM By Caryl Churchill Brentwood Theatre May 2011 Set around the 17th Century witchcraft trials in England, this superb play centres around the young, unmarried and sexually provocative Alice and her alcoholic mother Joan. They, along with two other women, are accused of witchcraft through no wrong doing, but rather through their neighbours justifying their own misfortune. Are they Witches? Are they whores?
